DOVER, Ohio (AP) -- Authorities have reopened a stretch of Interstate 77 in northeast Ohio after a vapor release at a chemical company forced its closure.
Firefighters were called Monday morning to Dover Chemical Corp. in Dover, about 45 miles south of Akron.
Dover Fire Chief Russell Volkert said an overheated chemical reactor produced a haze that officials had worried could lead to a fire.
No injuries were reported. Volkert said he had heard that two people sought medical treatment on their own. He had no further details.
Nearby residents were told to stay inside and keep their windows shut. At least one school had sent its elementary students to another school as a precaution.
Company president Dwain Colvin told The (Dover-New Philadelphia) Times-Reporter that he will be doing an investigation of the incident.
