MIAMI VALLEY -- If dining out just isn't in the budget this week - you may want to reconsider. Dozens of restaurants in the Miami Valley are offering a great deal during restaurant week.

The Beecher's are toasting to good friends and a bargain at Jay's Seafood in Dayton. It's Miami Valley Restaurant Week and they are getting a three-course meal for $20.10.

"It's a great deal, and it's also a good way to taste food at restaurants you haven't eaten at before," said Jean Beecher.

More than seventy restaurants throughout the Miami Valley are participating all week. The owner of Jay's Seafood, Amy Haverstick, founded it five years ago and says it's good for business.

"This one week it really increases people who say 'hey let's got out to dinner tonight. We can get a three course meal for $20.10 at such and such restaurants," said Haverstick.

"I think with the economy right now and the heat being down... people are kind of saving their pennies and stuff. It's something where a couple can come out - spend 40 bucks and take food home with them," said Jenn Berz of the Sports Bar T.J. Chumps in Miamisburg.

It is also for a good cause. A dollar from every plate served goes to local charities.

"In the past we've raised over 20-thousand dollars each week that we do restaurant week, and it's a wonderful thing to give back to the community," said Haverstick.

Giving back and hopefully getting new patrons who will want to come back for another taste.

"They get an increase in business. they also get a lot of new customers who haven't tried them or some newer restaurants that are involved this time - so they'll go out and patron those," said Haverstick.Dining Bargain: Miami Valley Restaurant Week Underway
