Police there say one man was hit as many as eight times.
"Another victim was picked up by a vehicle, SUV, black in color who'd apparently been shot in the leg; we haven't located him yet. He apparently had a weapon on him, don't know if it was the suspect's weapon or his, he fled with numerous other people in the car," said Dayton Police Sergeant Kelly Hamilton.
Still, piecing together the chain of events was difficult at best.
"Well we're not really getting a lot of cooperation from victim or suspects. It's kind of a 'I was in the park minding my own business and shots started flying and I just ran', which we know isn't true," said Hamilton.
The shooting scene was adjacent to a park where many parents bring their children to play.
We talked to one parent who lives nearby and says he won't let his kids back there anytime soon.
"This is scary because everybody could be walking with their kids and just somebody or anybody could be there right now," said Jerman Baldes.
Back at the scene, police did arrest a suspect who they say is in his late teens or early 20s.
At this point, they don't know much else about him besides once being the victim of a shooting himself.
They're hoping some who could've also been victims can help.
"We also have a garage down St. Nicholas where two guys were working on their car and they were shot at...they were innocent bystanders," says Sergeant Hamilton.
The victim hit multiple times was in stable condition at Miami Valley Hospital.
The suspect will be charged and jailed for felonious assault.
